Endless Summer Vacation is the eighth studio album by American singer-songwriter and actress Miley Cyrus. It was released on March 10, 2023, under Columbia Records.[1]

Background[]

Almost a year after the release of Plastic Hearts, Billboard revealed on an article published on October 15, 2021, that Cyrus was already working on her then upcoming record, which was going to be her first ever big release under Columbia Records. In addition, it was commented that the new era was going "to pull heavy inspiration from the days of 1970s disco and its Studio 54 heyday".[2]

In the meantime, the singer signed a deal and partnership with NBC for her New Year's Eve specials, keep on working with Gucci, released her cover of Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" from the The Metallica Blacklist album and relaunched her website Miley World, where her ACL Festival show premiered.[3][4][5][6][7]

Composition[]

Miley on her songwriting process for the record:[8]

When I’m writing a song, I try to be really descriptive in my lyrics and paint a picture of the moment in time that the song stemmed from. So, the visuals are pretty vivid in the words. You know, whether it’s “sticky, sweet lemonade” like in “Rose Colored Lenses.” You know, you can kinda taste that. The fun thing is, if you’re a friend of mine, if you’re close to me, and you listen to this album, it sounds like a conversation with me. There’s subtle shade. There’s, you know, honesty and truth, and there’s some wisdom, and there’s some humor. And there’s some heaviness and depth. It really represents who I am. And I feel that the greatest records that I’ve been able to make or the greatest songs that I’ve been able to write, they do exactly that. They just really connect me and whoever’s listening in a way that feels like an intimate, honest conversation.
