Plastic Hearts is the seventh studio album by American singer Miley Cyrus. It was released on November 27, 2020, through RCA Records.

The album was originally set to be released as She Is Miley Cyrus in 2019, however, Cyrus' divorce from Liam Hemsworth, vocal cord surgery, the passing of her grandmother and the COVID-19 pandemic posed significant delays.

Since production started in 2018, Cyrus has worked with numerous artists on the project including Mark Ronson, Max Martin, Mike Will Made ItThe NeptunesAndrew Wyatt, Alma, Dua Lipa, Billy Idol, Ryan Tedder, Andrew Watt, and Ali Tamposi.

On August 4, 2020 Miley tweeted a clip of the music video from the Meet Miley Cyrus song "Start All Over" with the hashtags "#sheiscoming" and "#butforrealthistime". With the release of the single "Midnight Sky" on August 14, Cyrus confirmed the cancellation of the She Is Here and She Is Everything EPs, citing that "this year has been extremely unexpected [and] I guess I was feeling like it didn't make sense for me to continue the next two projects."[1] On October 23, Cyrus announced that the album would now be titled Plastic Hearts and would be released on November 27; it became available for preorder that day.[2]

Cover Art[]

The album artwork for Plastic Hearts was photographed by Mick Rock, who is widely known for his work with performers including Joan Jett and Debbie Harry. In the limited edition colored artwork, Cyrus is pictured with a blonde mullet, wearing a sleeveless black-and-white shirt with the word "censored" printed on it, and accessorized with gold jewelry. The standard and digital album artwork applies a pink filter to Cyrus' image, while limited edition copies from Cyrus' website feature black-and-white as well as the full color variants.[3]
